Parents and Students: It is hard to believe that November is right around the corner. Time is flying past us at warp speed. 1. Please remember that it is okay for students to wear their costumes to tutoring tomorrow. Just leave the fake teeth, gloves, or any swords or other props in the car. We want to make the most of their hour and get as much done as possible, so you can enjoy the evening. 2. We will be closed the week of Thanksgiving. We hope you enjoy the time with family and friends. 3. With all the cold and flu going around it is important to remember to call or text us before 6pm the day before your session. This allows us time to reschedule as a Zoom session or open the session up for another student. We want to keep everyone safe and healthy to the best of our ability. As always, it is an honor and a privilege to work with you. We are grateful for you and appreciate you more than words could ever say. Thanks for bringing light and laughter into our lives. Parents and Students:

Autumn is officially here, but the weather seems to be playing some tricks on us this year. Tricks or treats, we are here with you!

Just a few things:

  1. We will be closed Monday, Oct 9th. It is an in-service day for PCS, so enjoy the day off and do something fun.

  2. Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year. You are welcome to wear your costume to tutoring, but please keep your mask, gloves, false teeth, etc in the car. We want you to make the most of your tutoring, then have fun with the rest of your evening.

  3. Seniors: CSU Applications opened October 1, and the UC Applications will open Nov 1st. Check the Common App or your individual schools for other application deadlines. Remember: just a few hours a week will make a huge difference. Don’t wait until the last minute.

  4. If you are making holiday plans, please note that CJLC will be closed for Thanksgiving Nov 18-26. We will close for Winter Break Dec 22-Jan 8th.

It can be hard when so much is changing. We do the best we can, as we can, and when we can. You have heard me say this many times before, but it bears repeating: just bring us the best that you have; it may not be pretty or wonderful, but it will be enough. You are enough. Thank you for trusting us to meet you and not let you fall.

Parents and Students: I hope the bustle of the new school year is calming down and you are feeling confident about the months to come. Things are settling into place at CJLC and we are rolling right ahead. A few announcements: 1. We will be closed September 4th for Labor Day. If your student needs a session that week, please let us know as soon as you can. The schedule is already pretty full, but we will do our best to fit you in. 2. Some of you have been asking about fall travel plans. We follow the Petaluma City Schools calendar, and I have updated the calendar with all the vacation days for the school year. If you will miss your tutoring sessions for travel, please email us the dates as soon as you can. We appreciate advance notice for absences because it allows other students to use the open spots for rescheduled sessions or for extra help. 3. Juniors: I know school just started, but I don't want you to forget about keeping up with your college and career research. The spotlight is on the seniors right now, but keep making progress on your goals. 4. Seniors: It is time to start condensing the list of colleges. I recommend choosing a total of seven: 2 reach, 3 moderate, and 2 safe. The applications and personal statements take a lot of time, so you need to be judicious. Don't spread yourself too thin, and don't procrastinate. It's go time. You can do this. There are many good things ahead. We believe in you and are excited to help you on your journey.
